NA meetings<\/a>\u00a0are primarily designed for addicts or those who think they have a problem with drugs. Most meetings are closed, i.e. for the aforementioned group. There are also open meetings designed for those who want to learn about the organization's work, e.g. relatives, experts, etc.<\/p>\n

The NA World Service Board of Trustees recommends the following guidelines and definitions:<\/div>\n

  1. A Narcotics Anonymous meeting, whether it is open or closed, is a refuge for addicts. It is intended to be a safe and beneficial place where an addict can hear about and participate in recovery from the disease of drug addiction. As much as we might like to, we cannot be all things to all people.<\/li>\n
  2. A closed meeting in Narcotics Anonymous is for those individuals who identify themselves as addicts or for those who are uncertain and think they might have a drug problem. A closed Narcotics Anonymous meeting provides a freedom that is necessary for more personal and intimate sharing by Narcotics Anonymous members. It does so by providing an atmosphere in which addicts can feel more certain that those attending will be able to identify with them, and share their own experience, strength, and hope.<\/li>\n
  3.
